Pictures in the Sky

MIDI

This is a song about the constellations of the Northern Hemisphere

Papa bear and baby bear
Went out to eat some stew.
Dragon passed between them. Oops!
They ate their dippers too!
The mighty king is in his house,
The queen is in her chair,
Sitting in the northern sky
Across from daddy bear.
And these are the stars the northern stars,
Sing them and you will know:
You can find pictures in the sky--
Anywhere you may go!

Follow down the big bear's tail
To find the huntsman's kite.
He's got his dogs beside him and
He holds a crown of light.
The virgin and the lion sit
High in the southern sky.
The crow attacks the Hydra's back
As he goes swimming by.
And these are the stars the springtime stars,
Sing them and you will know:
You can find pictures in the sky--
Anywhere you may go!

Hurcules is upside down
He'll soon be dragon's feast.
Below him eagle, harp and swan
Triangulate the east.
The archer's sitting down to tea
The scorpion crawls by.
The snake bearer above them both
All in the southern sky.
And these are the stars the summer stars,
Sing them and you will know:
You can find pictures in the sky--
Anywhere you may go!

Pegasus goes flying by
A princess at his feet.
Our hero Perseus has come
To claim that lady sweet.
The fishes swim by down below
As east to west go we
The whale the water-man and goat
All swim the starry sea.
And these are the stars the autumn stars,
Sing them and you will know:
You can find pictures in the sky--
Anywhere you may go!

Then Orion with his belt
Two dogs at his knees,
Fights that great big Taurus bull
To save the Pleiades.
And Auriga with his pet goats
Above them in the air
Eastward, the twins, Gemini,
Are such a lovely pair.
And these are the stars the winter stars,
Sing them and you will know:
You can find pictures in the sky--
Anywhere you may go!
