The Pirate Song

The Pirate Song

(may be sung to The Eddystone Light, trad.)

I pointed my web browser at the Pirate Bay,
Where you download tunes and you never pay.
That's highly illegal (or so they say),
But I still did it anyway.

	Yo, Ho, Ho! The MP3.
Oh, for the life of piracy.

I used to stay up late each night,
To download tunes, as was my right.
My library was my great delight.
And it grew by the Terrabyte.

	Yo, Ho, Ho! The MP3.
Oh, for the life of piracy.

I had a parrot, I had an eye patch.
I had a peg leg and a hook to match.
Since there were still some more tunes to snatch,
I'd go online and I'd grab a batch.

	Yo, Ho, Ho! The MP3.
Oh, for the life of piracy.

The Sheriff came to my place one day.
And carted all my toys away.
There soon was a lawsuit, sad to say;
The plaintiff was RIAA.

	Yo, Ho, Ho! The MP3.
Oh, for the life of piracy.

And now my boss is a garnishee,
So no more paychecks shall I see.
I live in bottomless poverty.
So hell, I may as well grab the MP3!

	Yo, Ho, Ho! The MP3.
Oh, for the life of piracy.
