Grand Old Party Lands

A parody of Bob Kanefsky's Nobody's Moggy Lands, which is itself a parody of two Eric Bogle songs, No Man's Land and He's Nobody's Moggy Now.

Well here comes the thundering pachyderm pack.
They trampled through Iowa not that long back.
They can meet anywhere in our country so wide,
So why a convention here, where I reside?

By now all the anchors have booked a hotel.
The trucks and their techs are coming as well.
The traffic and checkpoints will make life a hell.
Gee, GOP, answer me, why the Xcel?

Will you stifle dissension at your party's convention?
Will the locals implore ya' to get outta town?
Will your Ayes grow increasingly raucous?
Will your foes come and picket your caucus?

The elephants trumpet, the donkeys all bray.
"Those others are unfit for office," both say.
Will you sweep back to pow'r on the strength of a surge?
Will one of the parties be out in a purge?

On the 5th of November will you rise in song?
Will each neo-con be humming along?
And will Creation Scientists join in your throng?
Or will Democrat Munchkins be singing, "Ding, Dong"?

Will you stifle dissension at your party's convention?
Will the locals implore ya' to get outta town?
Will your Ayes grow increasingly raucous?
Will your foes come and picket your caucus?

Then it's time to look back - should you change a few things?
Should some new attack ads be kept in the wings?
Did miscounting Diebold machines help at all?
Did it seem the right thing to ignore old Ron Paul?

In just four short years it's conventions again.
Please settle my fears that they might be near, then.
[Oh] no, they should be far from me, on C N N.
CNN, C N N, C N N, C N N.

Will you stifle dissension at your party's convention?
Will the locals abhor ya' in some other town?
Will your Ayes grow increasingly raucous?
Will your foes come and picket your caucus?
Will your Ayes grow increasingly raucous?
Will your foes come and picket your caucus?
